A Montessori preschool in Mudanya since 2013. Classes of no more than 13 children, two gardens and the school's own pool.

Independence

Children choose their own work.

Materials sit on open shelves at a child's height. The child decides what to work on and for how long. The teacher observes and helps when needed.

Curiosity

They learn by doing.

Sensorial materials, kitchen work and studio time give children room to ask their own questions. They do not memorise the answer; they find their own way to it.

The garden

They spend time outdoors in every season.

Two gardens, a greenhouse and growing beds are an extension of the classroom. Morning exercise, vegetable growing and outdoor sessions whenever the weather allows.

The building was designed by Cephe Mimarlık in 2016. It offers 1,000 square metres indoors on 2,500 square metres of land, with wide windows, light tones, natural timber and child-scale furniture.

A day with us

The day starts at 08:00 and ends at 17:30. It flexes with the child's rhythm; the times are a frame, not a fixed timetable.

08:00

Arrival

Each child is welcomed at the door, settles into their cubby and starts the day on their own.

09:00

Work cycle

Uninterrupted Montessori work time: choosing materials, individual work and teacher presentations.

11:30

Garden

Outdoors whenever the weather allows: the vegetable beds, morning exercise and free play.

12:30

Lunch

Cooked in the school kitchen. Children lay the table, serve themselves and clear up.

13:30

Rest

The youngest rest in the sleep room while the older children do quiet work.

15:00

Studios

Art, music, drama, swimming and robotics. Specialist lessons that change with the day of the week.

17:30

Home time

A short summary of the day is shared with parents before the child heads home.

Specialist lessons take place in the afternoons, outside the Montessori work cycle. Each is led by a subject teacher and held in small groups.

Swimming

In the school's own pool, every day through summer school.

Ballet and the year-end show

Weekly lessons and a year-end show with families every June.

Drama

Story-led play in the garden and in the classroom.
